ABOUT US
Our Lord, and send for them a messenger from among them to recite to them your ‘Aayaat’ and teach them the ‘Kitaab’ (scripture) and ‘Al-Hikmah’ (wisdom). [Quran 2:129]
One of the greatest 19th century scholars of the Indian subcontinent Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi interprets Wisdom as ‘knowledge that has been put into practice’.
The 2nd century AH educational institute of Baghdad, Bayt Al Hikmah historically provided the ummah with great Muslim thinkers, academics in the fields of science, mathematics, medicine, technology and literature.
It is in this vein that Bayt al Hikmah Swindon was founded. The uncatered Muslim community in the West Swindon area revealed an importunate need for an Islamic establishment whose aim would be to enable the spiritual and academic growth and development of Muslims in the neighbourhood.
It has always been our long term goal to reach out and affect a wider populace; and at Bayt Al Hikmah we aim to acomplish this through the development of Muslim youth in Swindon; providing a sound education, both spiritual and secular, empowering them with life skills, in addition to facilitating prayers for the community. We also look forward to making a contribution towards our local community and beyond, to people of all faiths and backgrounds.
